Times are tight and businesses are looking for ways to cut costs. You may have even been thinking of cutting out some company events. We are here to help!
You CAN afford to show your employees you care and stay within the budget. Catering from Double Barrel BBQ has always been affordable, with menu’s starting at just $10 bucks! OK, so maybe all the bells and whistles aren’t in the cards this year but don’t think that your employees won’t notice if you cancel the event all together. Feeding your people says a lot about how you feel about them. So we have put together a list of tips and tricks to keep costs low and still have a great time.
- Consider a weekday event. Caterers have no problem filling up their Saturday’s and usually charge a premium for them. The very best deals will be during the week at lunch or the end of the workday when guests can be invited.
- Combine your event with a meeting you may have already planned. You can also use this time to talk to your company about what is going on, what’s the current strategy, give recognition, and tell them “thank you”.
- Have your event on company property, a public park or at your home. Your people will probably be more comfortable at the park than a stuffy hotel ballroom or other expensive venue and you will save money. One of our clients used their warehouse, brought in bales of hay and red checked table covers and had a “barn” party!
- Make up your own games and entertainment like tug-o-war, sack races, and the water balloon toss. It sounds corny but once you get started these are a laugh riot! Rentals, DJ’s and entertainers can cost a lot of money. Don’t forget the iPod and boom box for music!
- Bring your own drinks. Sounds simple and it is, caterers will charge up to a couple dollars per person to fill a cooler with sodas. You can do it for 25 cents per person! Remember to get plenty of waters too; they go fast in the summer.
- Have a potluck dessert contest! Your employees’ can sign up to enter and bring their specialty dessert. Make up some prizes and pass out ballots so everyone can vote on their favorite. Desserts are stable and safe to potluck (unlike most main and side dishes). Prizes can be low cost too, like a special parking space for a month or some other office privilege.
- Spare Ribs instead of Prime Rib! Yep, believe it, a menu of real southern style pit barbecue from Double Barrel BBQ will be more appealing to your company than the rubber banquet chicken from a hotel or high end caterer. Better food at better prices, every thing we do is made from scratch and full of flavor, your guests are sure to be impressed.
